A Brief History of Northside
On September 29, 1944, a group of people gathered together in a tent revival meeting (where the Conroe Tax Office is now located) for the purpose of organizing a Missionary Baptist Church in Conroe. By October 22, 1944, less than a month after the organization of the church, the total membership had reached 35 people. The first regular meeting place was the auditorium of the Conroe High School, which is now Travis Junior High. In November, 1944, three lots on North Houston St. (present location) were purchased. Construction began in February of 1945 and was completed in April of 1945. Over the years, additional expansion, building and remodeling has taken place. Eight acres of land on Teas Road were purchased in December, 2002. The church is in the process of relocating to that location.
